The 2012 Corton Les Paulands Grand Cru has a reticent nose that stubbornly refuses to come out and play. The palate is medium-bodied with plenty of sappy red fruit mixed with black pepper and flinty notes towards the taut, but crisp and focused finish. It is just a little abrupt at the moment. This will need a couple of years in bottle at least.

About this wine
Côte de Beaune
The Côte de Beaune is a prestigious wine region that stretches southwest from the town of Beaune in Burgundy and continues along the Côte d'Or. The Côte de Beaune is particularly known for its excellent white wines, made primarily from the Chardonnay grape. Some of the most famous white wines come from areas such as Puligny-Montrachet, Chassagne-Montrachet and Meursault, but although white wines predominate, red wines are also produced in the Côte de Beaune. Pinot Noir is the main grape, and some of the most recognized red wines come from areas such as Volnay, Pommard and Beaune. The Côte de Beaune is known for producing wines of high quality and prestige, and many of the area's wines are considered some of the best representatives of the Bourgogne style.
