Château Calon Segur is a renowned winery located in Saint-Estèphe on the left bank of the Gironde River in northern Bordeaux. The castle is ranked as 3emé Classé of the Medoc & Sauternes Grand Cru Classé in Bordeaux from 1855. The property's Grand Vin of the same name is a Bordeaux blend dominated by the grape variety Cabernet Sauvignon (up to 90%) and is produced in small quantities – 80,000 bottles per year .
The property's wine production dates back to the 12th century, but the name Calon Ségur comes from Nicolas-Alexandre, Marquis de Ségur, who also placed the iconic heart on the wine's label. The property's 2nd Wine called Marquis de Calon produced predominantly on Merlot and from younger vines.
