The vineyards cover 55 hectares, which, unlike other producers in the region, are planted with an equal proportion of Merlot and Sauvignon Blanc, which also plays out in the wines and makes them earlier drinkable with a full and generous structure. The wine from Château Palmer is said to be ranked second best in all of Margaux, after Premier Grand Cru Classé Chateau Margaux.
