Châteauneuf-du-Pape

The Châteauneuf-du-Pape wine region is located in the Provence region of France. The area is particularly known for the production of red wines, which are often complex, powerful and suitable for storage. The wines in the area are most often produced from blends of the grapes Grenache, Syrah and Mourvèdre, but Cinsault, Counoise and Vaccarèse are also allowed. The wine varies from producer to producer but generally has a full body, high alcohol content and complex flavor profiles. The region has a long wine tradition and has been recognized under the AOC (Appellation d'Origine Contrôlée) since 1936.
