Haut-Médoc is a recognized wine region located on the left bank of the Gironde River, northwest of the city of Bordeaux. It includes several well-known communes, including Margaux, Pauillac, Saint-Julien and Saint-Estèphe. Haut-Médoc is primarily known for producing red wines based on a blend of Bordeaux grapes, primarily Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Petit Verdot and Malbec.
