Krug Vintage 2006 – Exclusive vintage champagne with roundness, depth, and iconic Krug complexity
Krug Vintage 2006 is a luxurious vintage champagne from Champagne, France, created as a unique expression of the 2006 vintage. Krug itself describes this cuvée as “Capricious Indulgence” because the year presented significant climatic contrasts but ultimately yielded a champagne with charm, roundness, and elegance. The official blend is stated as 45% Pinot Noir, 35% Chardonnay, and 20% Meunier.
In the glass, Krug 2006 appears with an intense golden color and a generous, expressive style. The aroma offers notes of yellow and dried fruits, toasted almonds, hazelnut, maple syrup, meringue, and mandarin liqueur, while the taste is deep, round, and fresh with long aromatic persistence and nuances of nougat, frangipane, pastry, tarte tatin, citrus, and pink grapefruit zest.
Krug Vintage is only created in years when the house deems the harvest to possess a special personality worth highlighting. Krug 2006 spent approximately 12 years in the house's cellars before release, which has given the champagne extra balance, finesse, and complexity. Krug also generally states that each Krug Vintage undergoes over 10 years of cellar aging.
This exclusive champagne pairs particularly well with tagine with preserved lemon, ratatouille, slow-roasted leg of lamb, game, foie gras, flavorful fish dishes, and duck breast, but also works beautifully for special occasions where you desire a prestige champagne with both body and finesse. The product is delivered in 75 cl.
