The 2014 Echézeaux Grand Cru has a tightly-wound, tart red cherry bouquet that needs to forage more complexity during aging. It seems a little...lackadaisical at the moment. The palate is quite masculine with slightly dry tannin, firm in the mouth with good density, yet it needs to show more precision and focus on the finish. Not bad, but perhaps surpassed by some of Jadot's Vosne Premier crus this year.
About this wine
Côte de Nuits
The Côte de Nuits is an excellent wine region that stretches from the town of Nuits-Saint-Georges in the south to Dijon in the north in Burgundy, France, and is known for producing some of the world's most prestigious red wines. The Côte de Nuits is home to some of the most famous Grand Cru vineyards in Burgundy, such as Romanée-Conti, La Tâche, Richebourg and Clos de Vougeot. The Côte de Nuits has a varied soil that, combined with the altitude and exposure of the vineyards, is decisive for the character of the wines produced.
