“A multi-vintage blend of mostly 2018 and some
2017, this is a fine, fruity and extremely likable second wine from Opus. It
has good construction on the palate with blackcurrants, Morello cherries and
soft wood spicing with concentration and drive. The aromas and flavors open
and evolve after a few minutes in the glass giving succulent sweet cherry duck
blueberry notes alongside some savory olive and ash elements. Overtures
comprises roughly 10-15% of the total Opus production. First released 1993 and
was, until 2014, primarily sold via the cellar door. More than 50 lots are vinified
separately then blended and aged for 17 months in French oak, 50% new. Drinking
Window 2022 - 2031.” – Decanter
About this wine
Opus One
We are pleased to offer a string of vintages from the legendary Napa Valley producer Opus One, specifically the vintages from 2013 to 2019. As you know, Opus One is located in the Californian town of Oakville in Napa Valley and is the result of the successful collaboration between Baron Philippe de Rothschild of Mouton Rothschild and Robert Mondavi, probably the most famous winemaker ever from Napa Valley.
Napa Valley
The Napa Valley wine region in California, USA, has been known since the 1960s for producing exceptional wine due to the area's Mediterranean climate. The area is especially known for wines with Cabernet Sauvignon and Chardonnay grapes, which are rich in body and elegance. The terroir, including especially the climate and soil types, are ideal for growing Cabernet Sauvignon of the highest quality.
