Château Beychevelle 2015 is an exclusive red wine from Saint-Julien in Bordeaux, France, from a château classified as 4th Cru Classé in 1855. The 2015 vintage is widely indicated as a blend of 47% Merlot, 42% Cabernet Sauvignon, 7% Cabernet Franc and 4% Petit Verdot, resulting in a wine with fullness, freshness, and classic Médoc elegance. The alcohol content is 13.5%.

In the glass, Château Beychevelle 2015 presents an intense and refined style. The aroma and taste offer notes of blackcurrant, blackberry, cherry, cedar, tobacco, and spicy nuances, while the wine is also described as silky smooth, harmonious, and beautifully concentrated. The 2015 vintage is also considered one of the strong Bordeaux vintages, and Beychevelle here shows a beautiful balance between dark fruit, structure, and elegance.

The wine is aged for approximately 18 months in French oak barrels, about 50% of which are new, contributing to its depth, complexity, and a long, refined aftertaste. Château Beychevelle describes its wines as created for aging and development, and external sources suggest a drinking window from approximately 2025 to 2038 for this vintage.

This exclusive Saint-Julien red wine pairs particularly well with beef, lamb, game, braised dishes, and mature cheeses. Château Beychevelle 2015 is an excellent choice for those seeking a classic Bordeaux with charm, structure, and aging potential. The bottle comes in 75 cl.

This elegant estate, with its views down to the Gironde estuary, has produced an excellent 2015. It is properly firm with tannins although this structure is well balanced with the ripe, stylish black-currant fruits and acidity. A juicy finish bodes well for the future. Drink this generous wine from 2025.

Sappy and fragrant red fruits, crayon and crushed roses, thoroughly charming and in its drinking window. Mouthwatering, finessed tannins, plenty of grilled cassis fruit, woodsmoke and leather, soft landing on the finish. Harvest September 22 to October 8, 60% new oak for aging, Philippe Blanc director.

The 2015 Beychevelle comes across as much more powerful and plush in bottle than it did as a barrel sample. The black cherry, smoke, leather, tobacco, spice and incense notes are all endowed with notable textural depth. Voluptuous but also quite tannic, the 2015 is going to need at least a few years to come into its own. Readers should expect a powerful, brooding Saint-Julien. Tasted two times.
Vinous
95 /100
Medium to deep garnet colored, the 2015 Beychevelle is quite closed and broody to begin, offering glimpses at tar and chargrill scents over a core of plum preserves, baked blackcurrants, and espresso, plus a touch of black olives. The medium-bodied palate is taut and muscular, with slowly evolving black fruits and earthy layers supported by ripe, grainy tannins, finishing with great persistence.

Deep ruby with purple reflections and discreet rim brightening. Herbal-spicy undertones, with dark forest berry fruit, a rather restrained bouquet. Juicy yet mineral with well-integrated tannins, black cherry, dark nougat and a delicate vegetal touch on the finish.

About the grape

Serving
