Château Cantenac Brown 2023 is an exclusive red wine from Margaux in Bordeaux, France, from a château classified as 3rd Cru Classé in 1855. The 2023 vintage also marks the first vintage from the château's new, sustainable winery with 100% gravity-fed vinification and parcel-by-parcel work, which supports the wine's precision and terroir expression.
The 2023 vintage is composed of 71.5% Cabernet Sauvignon, 27% Merlot, and 1.5% Cabernet Franc. The wine is aged in French oak, of which 60% are new barrels and 40% are once-used barrels, providing a beautiful balance between intense fruit, structure, and elegant oak influence.
In the glass, Château Cantenac Brown 2023 presents a refined and concentrated style. Tasting notes from retailers and critics point to nuances of blackcurrant, blackberry, cherry, cedar, tobacco, menthol, licorice, and dark chocolate, while the château itself describes the wine as fresh, dense, and velvety with very fine tannins.
This Margaux red wine pairs particularly well with beef, lamb, game, braised dishes, and mature cheeses. Several sources also highlight the wine's aging potential, with an expected maturation window from around 2028 to 2048, making it an obvious choice for both the wine cellar and special dinners.
