Château Figeac 2020 is a grand and exceptionally refined red wine from Saint-Émilion, Bordeaux, with dark fruit, floral nuances, and a deep, aristocratic structure. The vintage appears concentrated, precise, and remarkably harmonious, with both intensity, freshness, and a cool elegance that gives the wine a distinctive personality and immense aging potential.

The aroma offers blackcurrant, blueberry, dark cherries, and ripe plums, complemented by violet, cedarwood, liquorice, graphite, tobacco, black truffles, and fine spices. The taste is full-bodied and silky smooth with dense, juicy fruit, ultra-fine tannins, and a vibrant freshness, where dark berries, floral notes, mineral depth, and a discreet salty touch combine in a long, nuanced, and impressively persistent aftertaste.

The wine pairs excellently with beef, veal, lamb, duck, game, as well as braised and grilled dishes – an obvious choice for grand dinners and for those seeking a Saint-Émilion with both depth, finesse, and exceptional development potential.

Points, passion and precision

100 /100
The 2020 Figeac is the finest wine that has been bottled to date at this estate since its renaissance began a decade ago. Wafting from the glass with aromas of blackberries and raspberries mingled with cigar wrapper, pencil shavings, licorice and black truffles, it's medium to full-bodied, deep and concentrated, with a suave, harmonious profile, vibrant acids, and beautifully refined structuring tannins. This sapid, complex wine represents the essence of this great terroir. Two years after extensive soil studies of the estate were carried out, and the first growing season to see cover crops used in the vineyards year-round, the 2020 benefited from more coherently demarcated parcels and more precise élevage, which taken together help to account for its edge over the excellent 2019. - William Kelley, Wine Advocate

About the grape

Serving
