Château La Mission Haut-Brion 2016 is an exclusive red wine from Pessac-Léognan in Bordeaux, France, which unites depth, power, and classic French elegance in an impressive and refined expression. The 2016 vintage is considered one of the strongest in recent times, and the wine presents an exceptional balance between concentration, freshness, and structure. It is a wine with great personality and authority, where intensity and finesse go hand in hand in an impressive manner.

On the nose, the wine opens with deep nuances of blackcurrant, dark cherry, and ripe plum, beautifully complemented by cedar, tobacco, graphite, smoky notes, and fine spicy undertones. The aromatic profile is complex, elegant, and very classic with a beautiful combination of dark fruit, minerality, and the special depth that characterizes great wines from La Mission Haut-Brion. The taste is full-bodied, concentrated, and silky smooth with ripe tannins, lively acidity, and a long, persistent finish, where fruit, spice, and mineral precision blend harmoniously. The result is a wine with both power, complexity, and great aging potential.

Château La Mission Haut-Brion 2016 pairs particularly well with beef, lamb, game, duck, braised dishes, and mature cheeses. It is a wine for special dinners and for those seeking a great Bordeaux with depth, elegance, and timeless French finesse.

Points, passion and precision

98 /100
The 2016 La Mission Haut-Brion is a blend of 57.5% Merlot and 42.5% Cabernet Sauvignon. Deep garnet-purple in color, it is just a little muted to begin, soon unfurling to reveal slowly growing scents of crushed blackcurrants, black cherries, dark chocolate and candied violets with nuances of crushed rocks, tobacco leaf, forest floor and fragrant earth plus a hint of bergamot. Medium-bodied and exquisitely elegant, the palate offers perfectly ripe, fine-grained tannins and tons of freshness with layer upon layer of perfumed fruit and a very long, ferrous-laced finish. - Lisa Perrotti-Brown, Wine Advocate

About the grape

Serving
