Les Forts de Latour 2005 is an exclusive red wine from Pauillac in Bordeaux, France, and is considered the second wine of the iconic Château Latour. The wine combines classic Pauillac character with great depth, elegance, and structure, and the 2005 vintage stands out as a particularly impressive expression from one of Bordeaux's most legendary years. It possesses power, complexity, and refined balance, making it an excellent choice for those seeking a grand Bordeaux with both personality and beautiful maturity.

On the nose, the wine opens with nuances of blackcurrant, dark cherry, and plum, beautifully complemented by cedar, cigar box, graphite, spices, and a subtle hint of tobacco and forest floor. The aromatic profile is deep and sophisticated, with a fine combination of ripe fruit and classic Pauillac finesse. The palate is full-bodied, well-structured, and harmonious, with ripe tannins, lively freshness, and a long, elegant finish where dark fruit, minerality, and spicy nuances meld beautifully. The result is a wine with intensity, balance, and a great classic Bordeaux character.

Les Forts de Latour 2005 pairs particularly well with beef, lamb, game, braised dishes, and mature cheeses. It is a wine for special dinners and for those seeking a stylish and characterful Pauillac with depth, complexity, and timeless French elegance.

The 2005 Les Forts de Latour is another beautiful wine from this estate. Medium to full-bodied, with a dense ruby/purple color, loads of blackcurrant fruit, earth, and spice, the wine is extremely pure, broad, savory, and quite expensive. This is a fabulous second wine, but in essence, this is really of classified growth quality. Drink it over the next 20+ years. - Robert Parker, Wine Advocate

Crushed blackberries, wild strawberries, white truffles and leather, this is fully open and at a great moment to drink, just heading towards tertiary character. Easily one of the most consistently impressive 2nd wines in Bordeaux, Forts de Latour was launched under Henri Martin and Jean-Paul Gardère in 1966, and at one point in its history there was even a discussion about it becoming part of a revised 1855 classification. What’s for sure is that this is a great vintage to discover it if you haven’t so far. 100% new oak for ageing.

Always the equivalent of many classed growths, Les Forts de Latour is hardly a second wine, deriving from a particular parcel of the Latour vineyard. This 2005 is beautifully balanced, with lively fresh acidity, dense tannins and ripe, juicy black fruits. The acidity stays right to the end.

Strong ruby garnet, delicate violet rim brightening, sweet, dark berry fruit on the nose, a very delicate animal hint, a hint of sweat, sweet heart cherries again. Elegant and with good substance on the palate, sweet tannins, already shows a very convincing length, very good ageing potential. Already surprisingly accessible, good red fruit on the finish.

About the grape

Cabernet Sauvignon

Modne vine (10+ år): Dekanter forsigtigt for at adskille bundfald, men server relativt hurtigt
Dekantring giver vinen ilt, hvilket afslører skjulte aromaer og gør strukturen mere tilgængelig.
