Château Leoville Las-Cases 2emé Cru Classé, Saint-Julien, 2023, 75cl

The 2021 Léoville Las Cases has turned out beautifully in bottle and clearly numbers among the very finest wines of the vintage. Unfurling in the glass with aromas of dark berries and cassis mingled with notions of cigar wrapper, violets and pencil shavings, it's medium to full-bodied, layered and concentrated with a deep and multidimensional core of fruit framed by beautifully refined tannins and girdled by lively acids, concluding with a long, penetrating finish. Serious and structured without being austere, it's a blend of 80% Cabernet Sauvignon, 15% Cabernet Franc and a further 5% Merlot. - William Kelley, Wine Advocate

So subtle and complex, with aromas of violets, lavender, dark roses and fresh currants. Very open. A wonderful hint of herbs. Full-bodied with ultra-fine tannins that give a multilayered texture to his and a savory, succulent finish that emphasizes brightness and length. Tangy and vivid at the end. Primary and pure. 86% Cabernet Sauvignon, 10% Cabernet Franc and 4% Merlot. Best after 2028, but exciting to taste now.

97-99. Barrel Sample. With 86% of the blend, this is a Cabernet Sauvignon wine. With its fragrant fruit aromas and well-packed black-currant flavors, the wine has succulence, allied to tannins. The wine's impressive structure goes with its stylish character giving plenty of aging.
