Clos du Marquis is a classic and characterful red wine from the prestigious Saint-Julien appellation in Bordeaux. The wine is known for its independent identity, combining the structured elegance of the area with a more immediate and modern approach.

The 2023 vintage is fresh and well-balanced with a nice depth. The nose is filled with dark berries such as blackcurrant and blackberry, accompanied by fine notes of cedar, graphite and a touch of spice. The taste is precise and harmonious with well-integrated tannins, lively acidity and a long, clean finish.

Created with the same uncompromising approach to quality as the wines of Château Léoville-Las-Cases , Clos du Marquis has its own style and expression, making it an obvious choice for both Bordeaux enthusiasts and those seeking a wine with layers, finesse and aging potential.

94 /100
The 2020 Clos du Marquis is composed of 61% Cabernet Sauvignon, 33% Merlot and 6% Cabernet Franc, weighing in with an alcohol of 13.57%, a pH of 3.76 and an IPT (tannins index) of 84. The Cabernet Sauvignon was harvested from the 26th to 29th of September, the Merlot from the 11th to the 16th of September and the Cabernet Franc from the 18th to the 29th of September. Deep purple-black in colour, it bursts from the glass with flamboyant notes of crushed blackberries, ripe, juicy plums and blackcurrant pastilles, with suggestions of licorice, red roses and espresso. The medium-bodied palate is completely coated with perfumed black fruits, framed by firm, grainy tannins and bold freshness, finishing long and fragrant. Fresh and floral, showing lilac, mint and light stone aromas that follow through to a medium body with really fine, broad tannins that fan out on the palate. Creamy and textural with lovely fruit and purity. Extremely long and poised. First year made in a new cellar. A blend of 56% cabernet sauvignon, 35% merlot and 9% cabernet franc. Very drinkable now but needs three to four years of bottle aging to come together.

94-96. Barrel Sample. The acidity shines through the wine with its black-cherry aroma. From a single large parcel close to the Gironde estuary, the wine has an elegance that is very Saint-Julien. It is juicy, with the Cabernet Sauvignon showing well and dominating the wine.
