Château Palmer 3ème Cru Classé 2019 is an iconic red wine from Margaux in Bordeaux, France, from a chateau classified as Troisième Cru Classé. The 2019 vintage is composed of 43% Merlot, 53% Cabernet Sauvignon, and 4% Petit Verdot, with the harvest taking place from September 19th to October 11th, 2019. Château Palmer itself describes the vintage as a wine of exceptional purity, aromatic clarity, and a rare combination of power and distinction.

In the glass, Château Palmer 2019 appears deep, elegant, and intensely aromatic with notes of dark berries, cassis, cherry, violet, cedar, and subtle spicy nuances. The palate is full-bodied and silky smooth with great precision, refined tannins, and a long, harmonious finish where dark fruit, freshness, and classic Margaux finesse are clearly evident. The winery's own notes particularly highlight the power and richness of the Merlot and the cool reserve of the Cabernet Sauvignon, which together result in a wine of exceptional balance and complexity.

Château Palmer 2019 pairs particularly well with beef, lamb, game, duck, braised dishes, and mature cheeses. It is an ideal wine for those seeking a grand Bordeaux with both depth, elegance, and great aging potential. Supplied in 75 cl.

The 2019 Palmer is a rich, dramatic wine that soars from the glass with aromas of cherries, blackberries and berry fruit liqueur mingled with notions of violets, rose petals and sweet spices. Full-bodied, layered and seamless, it's powerful and immensely concentrated, with an enveloping core of lively fruit that largely conceals the wine's ripe, powdery structuring tannins. Concluding with a long, penetrating finish, it's a brilliant rendition of the contemporary Palmer style from Thomas Duroux and his team. - William Kelley, Wine Advocate

This is a very fine wine with a serious structure that is cushioned by the generous black fruits. It is so balanced, smooth with velvet behind the great tannins. The wine will age for many years. Drink from 2028. Organic and biodynamic. Roger Voss

Deep dark ruby in colour with an opaque core, purple reflections, and subtle brightening on the rim. On the nose, aromas of blackberry and black cherry, a hint of fine oak and nougat, a fine nutty touch, candied orange zest, some liquorice, and subtle hints of marzipan. The palate is powerful, complex, and tightly woven, with a finesse-rich structure, supporting tannins, black forest berry fruit, spicy and darkly fruited on the lingering finish. Still very undeveloped and reserved overall, with subtle sweetness on the aftertaste, a Vin de Garde, a long-distance runner that still requires patience. (2030-2060).

Silky, rich and nuanced black cherry and bilberry fruit, touches of cocoa bean, liquorice, sour plum and fennel, all utterly enveloping. It unrolls slowly, building momentum with carefully placed tannins, delicate yet with a punch of power and concentration underneath. Large sized oak casks for ageing introduced alongside barrels, 60% new oak. Harvest September 19 to October 11.

About the grape

Serving
