Orma means “footprint” – and that’s exactly what this wine leaves behind: a distinctive, deep and lasting impression. Tenuta Sette Ponti is behind one of Tuscany IGT’s most refined and modern interpretations of Bordeaux blends, and the 2020 vintage is no exception. Here you get power and elegance in beautiful balance.

The wine opens with blackcurrant, black cherry, cedar and warm spices, followed by a dense, silky structure and perfectly ripe tannins. The finish is long, deep and full of dark fruit and precise minerality. A wine with both immediate enjoyment and great aging potential.

A blend of Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc, the Orma 2020 Orma is richly concentrated and midnight black in appearance. It presents considerable intensity in terms of its ink-like flavors of wild plum, blackberry confit, dark spice and cured tobacco. The wine wraps heavily over the palate, imparting lots of important textural richness along the way. You are best off serving a wine of this depth and magnitude with a classic T-bone cut bistecca alla fiorentina. - Monica Larner, Wine Advocate

Bright ruby with a slight purple tinge. Intense nose with notes of clove, some mint, fine blackberry, slightly earthy components in the background. Spreads great on the palate, has a lot of finely meshed, hearty tannin, nice juiciness, crisp fruit and a long finish.

Tobacco, sage and rosemary come through nicely, together with redcurrants and cassis. Full-bodied, yet polished, with a solid and dense center-palate. Tight at the end now, but will open nicely. Needs two or three years to develop. 50% merlot, 30% cabernet sauvignon and 20% cabernet franc. Try after 2025.

Showcasing the firm, savory tannins and dried herbs that even Bordeaux blends can deliver from the heart of Bolgheri, this is packed with blackberry, liquorice, sage, fennel and smoked earth. Generous and moreish. Third year on the Place for a wine that is pulling back on the slightly overblown extraction that you can find in the past. Made by the Moretti Cuseri family, 7.5ha of vines located in the same corner of Tuscany as Sassicaia and Ornellaia but with considerably less clay in its soils than other coastal areas of Tuscany, majoring instead on sand and gravel.
