Vieux Château Certan 2023 stands as one of the year's most sought-after Pomerol releases – a wine that combines the château's signature aristocratic finesse with a vintage marked by unusual precision and purity. The year provided perfect conditions for Merlot and Cabernet Franc, which is why the 2023 blend consists of 82% Merlot and 18% Cabernet Franc, without Cabernet Sauvignon, which did not reach optimal ripeness.

The taste fully lives up to expectations: silky smooth, energy-filled, and precisely structured, with layers upon layers of dark stone fruit, spices, minerality, and floral notes. The tannins are fine-grained, firm, and perfectly balanced, and the mid-palate is both full-bodied and elegant. The texture is described as both velvety and muscular, yet without heaviness – everything is balanced, refined, and effortless. The finish is long, floral, and deeply integrated with subtle notes of earth, smoke, spices, and black pepper.

The 2023 Vieux Château Certan bursts from the glass with demonstrative aromas of dark berries, pencil shavings, violets mingled with notions of burning embers, iris, crushed mint and black tea. Medium to full-bodied, velvety and sensual, with a gourmand attack that segues into a layered, enveloping mid-palate, it's polished and perfumed, with a sweet core of fruit and a long, gently oak-inflected finish.
