Massetino, Toscana IGT, 2020, 75cl

Bright, intense ruby colour. Compact and appealing nose with notes of ripe blackberry, dried tomato and blackcurrant, subtle savouriness in the background. Plucky and hearty on the palate, showing plenty of pithy tannin, lots of tobacco, some blackberry, still shows some roughness on the finish.

Packed full of character, even if clearly on the ripe side – expect baked earth backed up by baked fruits, eucalyptus and butterscotch, layered with pencil lead, graphite, crushed stones, cut herbs. Full of flavour, generosity and slow build power. A confident Massetino with a moreish quality that’s hard to resist. 70% new oak.
